OLT Drama Group

The Teatranti dell’Olt cultural association was founded in Foligno in 1997, with the aim of producing alternative theatre rich in ideas. Its members come from a broad range of theatrical backgrounds.
As well as producing plays, the association also works in graphic design.
In 1997 the group worked for the city of Spello, organising a review of young and alternative theatre that was repeated the following year. The same year the group produced ”Elogio della Follia”, selected for the unveiling of the contemporary mosaic decorations in the underground in Rome. The production of “La scala della buona Novella”, in collaboration with a number of important names in the arts world, was a turning point in the history of Olt.
In 2001-‘02 the group wrote the text “L’isola di adesso” and produced several short films.
In 2002 the group launched the project “l’isola di adesso” ,“Marianna e la scogliera stregata” and “le foto di Daniele Mattioli”. This event brought together three different artistic mediums - theatre, film and photography - in a single event where the spectator observed still images, moving images and action on stage.
Carlo Rambaldi was involved in this project, with a 'dismembered body ' effect on stage that symbolised violated humanity.

La macchina semiaperta
This structure can be dismantled and reassembled. It is made from metal tubes, wood and fabric. Circular in shape, the idea is to re-evoke the stage constructions of the past, spiciing them up with a touch of modernity. The aim is that the object should combine rigour with proportion and harmony, rather than size. The machine was used half open in the show “La scala della buona Novella”.

Carlo Rambaldi
A special effects guru, Rambaldi first came into contact with films wen he worked on the scripts of films by directors such as Visconti, Fellini, Pasolini, Monicelli.
In 1977 he won the Oscar for the gorilla in King Kong. Rambaldi went on to win a further two Oscars in 1980 and 1983, respectively with “Alien” and ”E.T." .
After years spent living outside Italy, Rambaldi returned to his homeland in 1996 for the opening in Terni of the European Special Effects Academy, where he supervises students in this sector. For the production “La scala della buona novella” Rambaldi created a crucified Christ and the talking head of the beheaded John the Baptist. In 2002 he created a dismembered body.
