From September 26th to 28th Gualdo Tadino will be holding the 31st edition of its Giochi de le Porte, a Medieval pageant and competition in which the town's four districts vye for the coveted Palio. The programme of events will begin on the Friday at 6pm with the opening of the taverns and the ceremonial exchange of gifts between the competing parties. At 9pm there will be a flag throwing display. On the Saturday there will be the procession in period costume starting at 9pm, following a first competition between the crossbowmen of the four rivals at 4.30pm. The Sunday will begin with a technical appraisal of the various carts enrolled in the competition, after which the teams of each district will retire until the race proper, which begins at 3.30 in the afternoon.
