Music - Rockin'Umbria 2008 Umbertide (Pg). This year’s edition of the Rockin'Umbria rock festival, which has been going for many years and marked a turning point in Italy’s youth culture during the 1980s, will run on May 31st and on June 12th-14th. Founded in 1984, the festival will have four days of music with international profile stars and some of the finest names on the Italian pop-rock scene. The venue for the concerts will be the Parco Ranieri of Umbertide, with two gigs free of charge and one where an entrance fee will be required: for the Baustelle. But the culminating event of the entire festival will be Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds. The free admission section of the festival, which will run for two days, boasts The Veils, a neo-Indie band from New Zealand founded in London in 2001. They will be performing alongside the Ardecore, an Italian band that won the 2007 “Premio Tenco”. The festival has also managed to secure an exclusive booking for Italy with the London duo Swayzak, Joakim Elektrik Band and Dancity Team as the closing gig. The festival’s ambitious programme, with four exclusive concerts for Italy and one free gig, has been jointly financed by the City of Umbertide and the Regione Umbria.
